Judge Recommends Revoking Orlando Doctor’s Medical License Following Patient Death
A judge has ruled that an Orlando doctor, Dr. Christopher Arthur Roy Walker, could lose his license due to a failed liposuction procedure. The Florida Department of Health accused Dr. Walker of not following proper care standards, which led to a patient’s death.
Judge Andrew Manko issued a 33-page report stating that Dr. Walker caused severe internal damage to a patient during a 2021 liposuction procedure. This damage included injuries to her liver, stomach, small intestine, pancreas, veins, and arteries. The patient, referred to as U.O., experienced internal bleeding and cardiac arrest, dying shortly after being taken to the hospital.
The Department of Health filed complaints against Dr. Walker, claiming he was not qualified to perform liposuctions and didn’t meet the necessary safety requirements for office surgeries. Judge Manko concluded that Dr. Walker violated several Florida laws, resulting in U.O.’s death and exposing other patients to potential harm.
Judge Manko recommended revoking Dr. Walker’s medical license. Alternatively, he suggested a $40,000 fine, suspending Dr. Walker, and permanently restricting him from performing cosmetic or surgical procedures. The Department of Health will make the final decision based on this recommendation.
