Beware of Scammers Selling Stem Cell Treatments
Several states, including Iowa, Nebraska North Dakota and New York, have sued numerous businesses and individuals for consumer scams involving the sale and administration of stems cell treatments for medical conditions the treatments have not been approved for.
There is a lot of inaccurate information on the internet about stem cell treatments and many patients are being deceived. The FDA regulates the use of stem cell treatments, and the only stem cell products currently approved for use are “blood-forming” stem cells used for patients with medical conditions that affect the production of blood. The FDA has issued warnings that scammers are promoting and selling stem cells as a cure for just about everything, including
Covid ARDS osteoarthritis tendonitis disc disease tennis elbow back pain hip pain knee pain neck pain shoulder pain multiple sclerosis Lou Gehrig’s disease |
Alzheimer’s disease Parkinson’s disease epilepsy stroke heart disease emphysema COPD autism macular degeneration blindness chronic pain fatigue |
Stem cell treatments have not been shown to be effective in treating any of these conditions, and more importantly, they have been shown to have significant safety issues for patients, including causing blindness, bacterial infections and tumors.
Why are these stem cell treatments being sold? Only one reason – it is very profitable. Misled but hopeful patients are paying anywhere from $3,000 to $20,000 per treatment. What do they get for their money? Nothing. Sometimes they don’t even get live stem cells, they get dead cells.
