Florida Nurse Arrested for Fake Adderall Prescriptions
A nurse in Florida was recently arrested for writing phony prescriptions for over 1.5 million Adderall pills. Done during a nationwide shortage of Adderall and similar medications, this conduct exacerbates an already difficult problem. Over 38 formulations of stimulant ADHD medications are already in short supply, according to the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Many patients around the country are being forced to go without needed medications, or to spend a lot of time, energy, and money to obtain what they need.
The arrest of this nurse, and the extremely large number of fake prescriptions she created, highlight a lack of oversight in the healthcare system that sorely needs to be addressed.
