Massive data breach exposes 2.9 billion personal records
Over 2.7 billion records from the United States, Canada, and the UK have been compromised by a hacking group known as USDoD. This personal info was said to have been housed by National Public Data (NPD). In April, USDoD claimed to have stolen the data and attempted to sell it for $3.5 million. The stolen information included Social Security numbers, and the personal record included other details like names, addresses, birth dates, and phone numbers. Much of this information has been released on the dark web for free. Recently, a member of the hacking group known as Felice said they were giving away parts of the database on the dark web.
